California Pioneer Heritage Foundation

pioneerheritagethumbOverview:
The California Pioneer Heritage Foundation website is dedicated to the stalwart early California pioneers of the late 1840’s and early 1850’s. It is intended to give proper recognition to the trailblazers’ contributions by offering educational materials for teachers, Living History re-enactors, and the public concerning our pioneering history.

Challenge:

We were engaged to develop an internet presence and in turn, an identity that would work across various media, including web, print, and event collateral. The site needed to be an information dense library of California’s founding yet still be easy to use for finding useful knowledge. The California Pioneer Heritage Foundation’s enlightening, comprehensive, and approachable nature needed to be expressed without dragging the user experience down with the sheer volume of information. Visually, the site needed to deliver on its promise to foster research, engender interest in the contributions of pioneers who were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and inspire historians and writers to preserve our historical heritage.

Solution:

Razzberry Media’s solution was to embrace the imagery of the mid 1800′s. We developed a web site based on the insight that design can complement and empower information. By mimicking the typography and textures of America’s wild west we were able to set a tone to create an engrossing atmosphere and to generate even greater interest in the subject.

Lovely looking/designed site. However, as I was perusing the many many links on the left side, I noticed an odd word resting snuggly in the pile – “writting”. I followed the link and found the odd word yet again here – http://californiapioneer.org/?page_id=140 . Just a friendly reminder that there is no such word as “writting” and I believe you mean “writing” – one letter t only. Of course, like I said in the beginning, the site does look lovely – it also has a nice 1800s western feel.

Thank you Kristina. It’s always very helpful to have extra eyes looking over everything. I have found the typo and corrected it, thanks to you!
